NOTE: Veteran of  War of 1812; Obediah stated, on documents, that he enlisted in the army in May or June 1814 at a at Chesterfield Co. Court House in South Carolina. His classification was Militia. Records show he had a rank of 3rd. Lt. (Ensign). He was in Alston's 3rd Regiment, Captain Jno Welch's company of infantry commanded by Major William Fields. He was discharged at Orangeburg , near Charleston, SC in the month of March 15,  1815. Records show 3 entries for subsistence for himself and a private servant. He applied for a Bounty Land Grant on January 25, 1851 and received 80 acres of bounty land. He was 21 years old at the time of his enlistment. Occupation was Farmer, Six feet high, light hair, blue eyes, and fair complexion

Lavicy Thuringir Boatwright was Obediah's third wife who he was married to at the time of his death. They had no children together.
